Historic properties are not for everyone, but they do have a certain beauty that is hard to reproduce. This is why we need at least 5 reasons we should go to Iron Horse Inn Cottonwood, Arizona.

To see donkeys
Around sunset, some 5 minutes away from the inn, several donkeys can be seen feeding. They belong to the miners in the area, and they undoubtedly make a very unexpected sight. If you want to see them, you should ask the staff to point you to their location.

Visit the Tuzigoot National Monument
This monument is actually a very old pueblo filled with history. This village belonged to the Sinagua people who excelled in farming and as artists. This monument is opened daily, except for Christmas Day. You should go there before 4PM to make the most of it.

Have a ride on an ATV
Arizona Offroad Tour is the company you want to go to if you’re interested in an ATV tour because they have a special and the only authorization for these tours. If you like riding horses, you can ask for the same tour to be offered on the back of a horse instead, though the prices will be different, of course. These tours are available throughout the year.

To go shopping
Everyone likes shopping and there are many stores in the area. If you want to buy some really nice local wine ask the staff about Bootlegger’s. If your dream of owning some real cowboy hats and accessories, then you should stop by Gunslingers where you can buy various cowboy related items.

Kayaking
Kayaking is one activity not many know is possible in Arizona. This extreme sport adventure starts in Clarkdale and ends right at the base of the Tuzigoot National Monument, on the Verde River. The nature around you is breathtaking but you’ll have to watch out for close encounters with mule deers, beavers, and other wildlife creatures.
